Making a Difference
for and through university students: Christian Education and Life, Czech Republic
There have been many good changes happening since the Velvet Revolution. Despite that, there is still something missing. The director of a theatre in Brno, Vladimír Morávek, recently asked a hundred distinguished personalities to answer the question, 'What should we believe in and what hope do we have now, twenty years after the revolution?' Their replies, often characterized by vanity and disenchantment, were summarized by our ex-president, Václav Havel, as follows:
The responses of those who were asked have several things in common - something has to change in the sphere of the spirit, in the ethical sphere. Ethical order must have its metaphysical anchorage. We live in the first atheistic society and we lack the awareness of eternity, awareness of infinity.
These words precisely depict the change we, at KVZ, would like to engage in by what we do. We would especially like to focus our attention on the younger generation of university students in the Czech Republic. In addition to the physical and psychological aspects of a person, there is also the spiritual aspect, or 'heart', which needs attention and transformation.
